Our skin is our packaging, our outer covering, our protective film against the elements. Our skin knows when we are sick and hormonal, it glows with good health and rages against us for over indulging.

Even though we know this, in the fight to delay aging or to improve skin conditions, many of us spend our hard earned cash on skincare and cosmetics, some even resorting to surgery.

There are times when we get a break out of spots, a patch of dry skin, dark circles under our eyes and deep lines across out forehead, while skincare has come a long way over the last few years, it cannot be the instant fix for those who continue to eat a poor diet, drink excessive alcohol or smoke.

In my early 30's I started to notice two lines appear between my brow and one on my forehead. At the time I wasn't particularly healthy, ready made meals and weekends spent socialising, so when I made changes to my lifestyle, cutting out alcohol, drinking more water, eating fresh vegetables and less meat, my lines miraculously disappeared and even now years later there are no signs of these lines reappearing.
Although my skin is now much better than in previous years, I had always been a little lazy when it came to skincare routine. Baffled by the endless products; cleansers, toners, creams for day, creams for nights. I spent a small fortune of creams that got left in the cupboard, buying a new product because it was on special offer or using one that came free with my lipstick!

Skincare Routine

A chance meeting with Bharti Vyas, author of Beauty Wisdom and creator of the Skin Wisdom range for Tescos, gave me an opportunity to learn a little more about my skin and perhaps finally find a solution to those little annoying spots and uneven skin tone.

A quick look at my skin and Bharti informed me I have very light Rosacea, probably as a result of sun damage, my skin condition was fairly good but I needed to get into a good skincare routine.

Wonderful treatment

A couple of weeks later I found myself at her clinic in Chiltern Street in London's West End. After filling in a comprehensive medical questionnaire she was able to give me dietary and lifestyle advice as well as treating my face to a wonderful treatment that left my skin glowing. " It isn't about quick fixes or cosmetic enhancements that wear off in a few hours. It is about learning to relate to your mind and body, understanding and responding to its needs to bring about optimum health and beauty confidence." explained Bharti

Under strict instructions to cut out dairy, meat and wheat, I started using the Ultimate Therapy Range starter kit and incorporated her simple routine into my day. The products were delightful and easy to use and by the time I arrived for my second treatment one month later, I was already impressed with the improvement to my skin.

Visually I can see the importance of routine and now three months after my first visit to Bharti, my skin in noticeably better, my make-up now enhances rather than hides and I feel I am giving myself the chance to stay youthful a little longer.

STEP BY STEP

Everyone can follow Bhartis simple routine steps and even if you don't have a huge skincare budget she has carefully developed a range with Tescos which works equally a well.

Step one: Tend & Prepare
Leaving eye make-up in place can lead to infections at the roots of the lashes causing them to weaken and fall out.

Step two: Cleanse and Care
Whether you wear makeup or not, skin needs cleansing twice daily to remove the dirt, pollution and sebum

Step three: Refresh & Cool
Using a toner after cleansing acts as a back up; removing the final layer of deeper dirt.

Step four: Replenish and protect
At the most basic level moisturiser forms a barrier over the skin to prevent moisture loss while adding replenishing ingredients to the skin

Step five: Smooth and treat
Skin benefits from twice weekly additions to a routine, consisting of exfoliation and intensive cleansing or nourishing treatments.

Step Six: Boost and Illuminise
Skin sometimes needs an extra boost - intensive concentrates and serums that work alongside day and night creams.
