Buddhism
Today more than ever there seems to be a need to fill an internal void. Consumerism is one way many people attempt to do this. The problem of course is that this hole inside cannot be filled from the external world...

In fact, after the initial 'high' from acquiring a new possession, or getting the object, job or person that promises security, this is often closely followed by an unfulfilled feeling. Buddhism has a word for this kind of dissatisfaction called 'Dukkha'. It holds the perspective than we cannot expect the world to provide permanent satisfaction. How could an impermanent universe do such a thing? Buddhism faces us with the truth of the way things are and says that if we can embrace this fact we can experience a deeper beauty. One in which we stop trying to manipulate reality to work for us and instead we flow with change and embrace the moment as it is. Consequently entering into a creative connection with life that is full of possibilities. The Triratana Buddhist Order run classes at 'The Alice Croft centre' which are open to all.
