Celebrate Harvest

Monday, March 8th, 2010

Celebrate harvest with traditional music, dance and real ales at this year's 10th annual Eastbourne Lammas Festival.

The word 'Lammas' comes from the old English language, meaning 'loaf mass', a harvest festival and celebration of the Earth's bounty which was traditionally held at the cutting of the first corn crop. This year's Lammas Festival will be held on the Western Lawns on Eastbourne seafront on 31 July & 1st Aug and brings you traditional music and dance, stalls, food & real ales as well as children's entertainment.

The festival is run entirely by volunteers without any financial support and the performers also appear free of charge. Last year the festival raised over £1,300 for the RNLI, and this year they hope to raise even more! If you'd like to support this free festival, the festival organizers are encouraging local businesses to donate prizes, however big or small, for their raffle and prize draw.
