Charity Walk through the Beautiful Kent Countryside
The 20 mile route took her six and a half hours and despite the grey, drizzly weather, Carolyn said it was "an inspiring day," with nearly 1,000 people walking 10 or 20 miles, some for very personal reasons.
With a clear route through a variety of parkland, bluebell woods, rolling pastures, conifers and pretty Sussex villages it was a chance to gather family, friends and colleagues together for a one-off day to remember.
Whatever your age or fitness level the Pink Ribbonwalk is accessible to all and Breast Cancer Care will help you through your training by providing a full schedule.
Carolyn walked in memory of two friends and work colleagues, Barbara and Deborah, who died as a result of breast cancer in the last nine years, and also to celebrate the fortitude with which her friend Allison has faced the gruelling treatment she is currently undergoing. She trained by walking the dogs and keeping her energy levels up using energy drinks and other nutritional products from her business, Spa Wellness.
"When the feet began to feel a bit sore, I thought of my friend's Barbara, Deborah and Allison, and of many others. I also thought of all the kind people who have been so generous with their sponsorship and their words of encouragement. To date, I have raised nearly £900, which is fantastic. Thank you so much. It would be brilliant to make it a nice round £1,000. If you are able to add a donation, please go to Just Giving page www.justgiving.com/Carolyn-Gordon
All funds raised from the Pink Ribbonwalk will enable Breast Cancer Care to provide essential information and support services for people affected by breast cancer, including the charity's helpline, discussion forums, local events and one-to-one support sessions, so that no one need face a diagnosis alone.
Anyone wishing to take part next year as a walker, or as part of a walking team, in Breast Cancer Care's Pink Ribbonwalk please visit the website for details www.pinkribbonwalk.org.uk.
