Climbing the peaks for Asthma UK
On June 4, 2010, a team of eleven Bedfont Scientific Ltd employees will embark on the Three Peaks Challenge, scaling the three highest mountains in the UK within just 24 hours to raise money for Asthma UK.
The challenge will commence early in the morning on June 5, 2010. The intrepid team will first take on Scotland's mighty Ben Nevis, the British Isles' highest peak at 1,343 metres. Next, they will head to the Lake District to climb Scafell Pike, which rises to 978 metres and is the highest mountain in England. The last leg of the journey will take the team to Wales' highest mountain, Snowdon, at 1,085 metres.
With the help of family and friends, the Bedfont team hopes to raise a minimum of £2,700 and has been working hard to fit as much fundraising as possible around their training, including selling sweets, baking cakes, organising raffles and holding boot fairs.
Managing Director Trevor Smith said: "Taking on the Three Peaks Challenge will be a huge challenge, both mentally and physically, but the fact that we are raising money for Asthma UK makes it all worthwhile.
"Bedfont is committed to supporting research into asthma and we have helped to make a difference with our NObreath monitors, which provide sufferers with a quick, easy and affordable way to monitor their condition from day to day.
"The money we are raising will help Asthma UK to continue their vital work. I am really proud of the way the team has pulled together to raise as much as possible for this worthy cause."
The brave team comprises Trevor Smith, Carol Filby, Jason Smith, Natasha Smith, Louise Bateman, Cerys Morgan, Kirsty Macgregor, Scott Deamer, Dean Woodland, Glen Hillsley and Tammy Apps.
