Hever Rose Garden
Take the family somewhere different this Spring and Summer, with an enjoyable, and educational, trip to Hever.

June 1st – 6th

Hever's historic dressing up box has been opened! Recreate the splendour of Tudor life with a medley of medieval costumes. Children can recreate the feel of being a medieval knight with a full set of armour or dress up in yeomanry costume and learn about life behind the scenes at the Royal Court. There will also be a stall of replica tools and weapons for the children to get to grips with.

Throughout the day the Company of 1415, specialists on life in the Middle Ages, will be holding interactive demonstrations to show how a knight would be dressed for battle. Visitors will get a close-up look at the knight’s full set of armour and a chance to try it on for size.

June 21st - 27th

The castle pays tribute to the quintessential English country garden with a celebration of roses and herbs. Planted with over 3,000 roses, the gardens are celebrated for the breadth of variety and kaleidoscope of colour on display. From 21st to 27th June the charismatic Head Gardener will be welcoming visitors and explaining what’s required to successfully develop and maintain a rose garden. He will be on-hand throughout the week to answer questions and might even be persuaded to disclose a few of his gardening secrets.

The Tudor Garden will also be in full bloom and the herb garden will be looking its finest, with costumed guides completing the Tudor scene. A herb expert will be giving talks on the growing of herbs through the ages and demonstrating their culinary and medicinal uses. Down at Lavender Court there will also be a chance to purchase plants and shrubs from across the estate and stock up on gardening products.

The usual Hever attractions will also be open, so the whole family can enjoy a day out this Spring and Summer.
