Health in the 21st Century
I am always amazed at the knowledge we have gained from the past, using simple herbal remedies to soothe sore throats, reduce inflammation and aid digestion, applying simple breathing techniques to reduce stress and symptoms such as asthma, and simply by being grateful we can change our perception and improve our overall happiness. However I am also fascinated by the improvements of technology, those amazing pioneers who work for years developing new systems to aid in the health and wellbeing of the planet.
Wellbeing went in search of some unusual and fascinating health technology to provide you with our personal experience of this new and exciting move into the 21st Century.
Heart Math
Some months ago I met an amazing man, Dr Anand, a practicing GP from Newcastle upon Tyne www.health2000.co.uk. We met near Heathrow so that he could show me the technology from HeartMath. "In the course of all my lectures, seminars and demonstrations I have realized that stress causes 90% of the patient's visits to me so I set about finding a method that dramatically & permanently reduces stress.", says Dr Anand
The method is a special breathing, visualizing and computer bio-feedback technique that uses Heart Rate Variability (Beat to Beat variation in heart rate dependant on emotions and breathing). The system teaches you how to improve this Variability which leads to 23% drop in the killer stress hormones and 100% increase in DHEA, De-Hydroxy-Epi-Andosterone the health giving and life giving hormone in just 30 days. Since my first trial of the software, where an ear sensor is clipped onto the ear or attached to the finger to read your heart rate variability, I have practiced this breathing technique when ever I find myself in a stressful situation, sitting in traffic, confrontations or running out of time! The next time I tried the software with Fiona Corliss I found myself able to bring my stress levels down, with ease, allowing me to control any stressful situation. Healing Rhythms
This is similar technology to HeartMath, using innovative biofeedback technology from the "Wild Divine Project". The programme features Dr Andrew Weil, M.D, Dean Ornish, M.D and Deepak Chopra, M.D. Using finger sensors to measure your skin conductivity levels and heart rate variability, there are 30 guided meditation and breathing exercises and 15 Biofeedback Events with variable difficulty settings. This is a beautifully designed PC / Mac game which leaves you feeling relaxed and in control.
"Meditation, along with biofeedback, is a perfect tool to help train you to return to your natural state of balance and wholeness." - Dean Ornish, M.D.
Health Screening
NES Health Ltd is based on the premise that Information and Energy control Biology.
"Over time people's Information-Energy field can become distorted rather like operating systems or software programme they end up full of bugs the more you use it. By correcting the code of the operating system, the computer starts working properly again."
The NES System reads the energetic bodyfield by placing your hand on a sensor. The reading highlights distortions or blockages which may have an effect on the body's ability to heal. The system is based on science and can be best explained through the understanding of quantum physics but for an easier way to understand the system the film The Living Matrix explains this more fully. www.thelivingmatrixmovie.com
Having my first scan with Lisa Lincoln it showed me that my source energy was low, no wonder I was exhausted! There are layers of information, almost like peeling an onion but on the first visit you start with the first layer and each time you go back it is an opportunity to uncover other underlying problems whether it is physical, emotion or environmental.
Peter Fraser, former professor of Melbourne University, mapped out the information that controls the body when it's healthy and discovered and created the Infoceuticals used to restore the body back to good health. Using a similar system to Homeopathy, but imprinting with code rather than plants, when an Infoceutical is taken, it acts as a signpost to the body's own healing system which does the rest of the work as nature intended.
I loved this system, it was visually very clear, very accurate and after 30 days of using the Infoceuticals my Source Energy was back in full swing.

EIS - Electro Interstitial Scanning
I was introduced to this by the Biomedical Technology while they were presenting it to the NHS. I understand that a few GPs have taken this on board but there are also a few practitioners using this incredible technology to help individuals find out how their body is, or isn't working.
The client places their hands and feet on a flat metal plate and probes are attached to the forehead. An electrical current passes through the body and reads the conductivity of interstitial fluid around the cells. After the reading you get a clear 3D diagram of the body and the practitioner can get an estimation of a wide number of parameters including the functioning of the main body systems, including cardiovascular, neurological, hormonal, respiratory, uro genital and gastro intestinal. It highlights areas of imbalance and gives recommendations for the correction of nutritional deficiencies. In fact in an hour you will have a better understanding of how you are functioning than a lifetime of visits to the doctor.

Like any new technology it can take an open mind when deciding to try these new systems, some come to it through sheer desperation, others are just a little intrigued to learn more about themselves. Through my testing of these new technologies I am always surprised how accurate they are, and also what things I learn about myself along the way. I know what areas I need to work on and can check every now and then to see if I am doing a good job. The great thing about technology is that you get a record of your progress, can see clear illustrations of what is going on in your body and then if you want to use herbs, acupuncture and good old fashioned remedies you will know exactly what areas of health to focus on.
