Make a Healthy Change
Monday, April 19th, 2010
From her practice in Tunbridge Wells Louise Whitnall is offering help and support to those in need, whilst doing away with the old stigmas that 'counselling' is only for those dangerously on the edge.
With the daily stresses of life, and the current economic climate putting pressure on us all, counselling is something which is growing in popularity as a chance to air your problems to a professional, and eventually be able to leave those problems behind you. It may be something simple: you are stuck in a rut and by talking it through you are able to lift yourself out, or something which takes longer to see, but people like Louise Whitnall are giving you the tools to succeed.
"Picking up the pieces when you feel as if the world is falling apart can feel like an impossible task and doing it alone may feel hopeless. That is why counselling works for so many people, it offers support helping to build self esteem, and an ability to take control of ones life."As Louise highlight's, counselling is not about reeling you in for weekly session's paid by the hour, it's about empowering you with the knowledge that you can get yourself back on track, you just need a helping hand to get started.
Louise teaches you to look inwardly and question outwardly- "For instance why and how do we do the things we do, what makes us unhappy or sad, how much of life is down to circumstance or to do with something more innate, what causes us to make certain decisions and continue to find ourselves in the same old situations?"
Exploring questions like this within a safe and confidential environment allows you to discover yourself in ways your had perhaps not considered before, which could change the way you value yourself and the people and things around you.
It is difficult to make that first step, to decide which direction to take, and as Louise teaches "It is often during times of loss, separation, depression or a sense of worthlessness that people encounter changes outside of their control and find them selves wondering- can I cope with more?" If this sounds like you, or you know someone who needs support, then encourage them to seek help from professionals like Louise Whitnall.
