New Year - New Confident You
Recent new member Donna Phillips of Therapy Solutions came to Voice of Wales because she absolutely dreaded speaking in public to the point where she was physically ill at the thought of it. Although she has only been a member for a couple of months, Donna says "I now realise it is a learnable skill, something I can overcome and that there is fantastic support to help me do so at my own speed"
Tessa Perry has been a member since the club was founded in 2007 and is about to deliver her 10th speech to achieve the accolade of Competent Communicator. She says "I was not nervous about speaking in a work context at all, but anything else was very different. As soon as I went to that first meeting I realised how much I could learn and what fun it would be. Since then I have challenged myself in the safe environment of Voice of Wales and moved on to giving speeches on big occasions which would have been quite impossible before."
"If you have ever wanted to be a more confident speaker, able to communicate your message with impact to audiences large and small, then Voice of Wales is for you. The Toastmasters formula works on the proven approach that the more you practice a skill, with supportive feedback pointing out what you do well and how to improve, the better you become. It's amazing and inspirational to see people improving in confidence and skill meeting after meeting, whatever their start point, and having fun at the same time!" Charlotte Hitchings, President Voice of Wales
Meetings are held every second and fourth Thursday of the month (except August) at the Sessions House, Usk from 7.15 pm. www.voiceofwales.co.uk
