Is personal training really worth the cost?
Whether you are struggling with weight loss, lacking in motivation or are just totally clueless when it comes to fitness, it's worth considering personal training. A skilled personal trainer has the ability to totally transform your lifestyle, with not just exercise instruction but by giving you an insight into how fitness fits into the bigger picture. A good trainer will also be able to advise you on how to exercise outside of your sessions, what to eat and how to lead a more active lifestyle that will help you to reach your goals.
I've been working out with a personal trainer for the last 6 months and I love it! There's no denying that the sessions are hard work, but the exercises constantly change and I regularly achieve more than I would have thought possible. Best of all, the exercises I struggled to complete when we started training, I can now do with ease.
There's no denying that personal training sessions are a significant cost but for me they are more beneficial that a facial or a massage and so that's what I choose to spend my money on. I'm sure that personal trainers everywhere will agree with me when I say that you only get out what you put in though. Remember that everything your trainer is asking you to do is for your own good and no matter how much you say "I can't," "YOU CAN!"
Resistance Training for Weight Loss
Resistance training is the exercise mode of choice for sustainable fat loss and improved body tone. To burn fat whilst maintaining lean muscle, you should select a weight you can lift in a controlled manner approximately ten times. Rest only sixty seconds so that your muscles are not able to fully recover.
For the second set you'll probably only manage to lift the weight eight or nine times. If you opt for a third set you'll be lucky to make six repetitions. The principle is to elevate levels of blood lactate and a corresponding boost in growth hormone release during sleep (growth hormone increases fat burning and builds lean tissue).
Resistance training will also create a significant oxygen debt which will keep you burning calories for hours after training. Two to three 30-45 minute sessions per week, with supporting nutrition, will help you to effectively manage weight and body composition.
