Many people are turning to alternative treatments for their pets so why not explore new ways to support your animal's wellbeing. Trained practitioners and consultants are able to assist animals with different life experiences, emotional expression, communication needs and behaviours such as anxious, shyness, aggression, nervousness ie. fireworks, car journets etc.

Animals can be treated with essences, herbal medicine, acupuncture, homeopathy and various forms of healing. They are safe to use alongside other treatments or medication.

Homeopathy

Homeopathy in animals is a form of medicine which has been used for many years now it was first discovered and used in its modern form by a German physician Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in the late 18th century. Homeopathic remedies are of great use during first aid treatment of your animals. For a detailed list visit www.pilgrimspets.co.uk

The Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 - The UK legal position Under the terms of the Act, it is illegal for anyone other than a RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon to prescribe homeopathy for animals or to diagnose or give advice based upon a diagnosis. This includes but is not limited to homeopathy, acupuncture, herbal medicine and aromatherapy.
This law applies, even if no charge is made for the service but does not apply to owners who treat their own animals.

Exceptions are made for those supplying manipulative therapies (e.g. massage, chiropractic, osteopathy, physiotherapy), working under veterinary supervision, so long as no prescription is supplied or offered. British Association of Homeopathic Vetenarian Association www.bahvs.com

Food for Thought?

Having seen the benefits gained by changing diets over the past few years and seeing dramatic improvements in skin, bowels and just general wellbeing, perhaps we should be feeding our companions with a much more natural diet. This should were possible include raw foods. Modern highly processed diets are not conducive to a healthy lifestyle.

Diet is the single most important factor in your animals health!

Rabbits - the most healthy natural diet is grass, it contains silica which wears the constantly growing teeth down and generally promotes good health.

Horses - should similarly be fed as much as possible on grass

Cats and Dogs - would naturally eat raw carcase meat including the bones and gut contents which is pulped herbage (grass and other green plants). These are an excellent source of essential vitamins.

This is what we should base their diet on. A couple of raw meaty bones a week would prevent all the tartar build up and given us a healthier dog with fresh breath.
