Shamanic Sound

If we could trace our roots back far enough, we are all connected to Shamanism through our most ancient ancestors! It is still powerfully alive today in parts of the world and here in the UK we are connected with Shamanism through our Celtic and Druidic traditions.

What is a Shaman?
The Shaman was the medium or messenger between the visible, human world and the invisible, spirit world. Their job was to enter the supernatural realms on behalf of the community or an individual, to bring back guidance and healing, and to mend or retrieve lost souls. Ritual drums, rattles, gongs, bells and pipes were used to help reach the necessary altered states of consciousness to "journey".

Modern day Shamanism Long ago the community was able to seek out the help of the Shaman, but in the modern world we don't usually have this relationship with community or a spiritual leader and we are looking for our own awakening and spiritual growth. If you are searching for this awakening, Shamanism may be a doorway to open up your own spiritual journey. My first experience of a Shamanic Sound Journey was a huge personal awakening which had a profound impact. For me there was a beautiful sense of releasing my personal struggle and allowing the spirit world to hold and heal me.

Shamanism and sound
Through story, elemental sound and Shamanic song, clients become aware of the sound and light pathways in the body as well as other dimensions. With all ‘normal' sensory stimulation shut out, the mind can rest from the constant filtering and processing and open to creation. There is a sense of stillness, of time having been suspended and expansive vision. Each energy field has its own unique resonance which can be reflected back by the sensitive Shamanic Sound Practitioner with a range of instrumental and vocal sounds in order to create the journey.

Sounds of the inner world
There are subtle, inner sounds that we may hear as we sink down into deeper levels of consciousness: electrical buzzing sounds, humming of bees, chirping of crickets, a bell being struck, a conch shell being blown, beating of a large drum, harps, flute, choral voices, something like ethereal bagpipes. Cultures all over the world have created instruments and ritual practice to simulate these. Each different sound may trigger something new in the consciousness, creating a unique journey.

Deeply personal experience
This experience of Shamanic travelling to other dimensions for guidance and healing is a deeply personal one -not done for you by the Shaman, but by you yourself. In this way, we can each connect in our own way with Nature, the elements, our Ancestors, Guides and teachers, the dream world, our own soul.

What are the benefits?
As well as offering a wonderful way to de-stress and relax, with therapeutic sound frequencies retuning body and mind to bring about balance and well being, this treatment offers help with:-
• Clearing of energetic blocks and holding patterns,
• Harmonic balance within the physical body and the field,
• Alignment of mind and body with spirit and soul.
• Awareness of guidance from other dimensions
• Awakening to one's soul path.
The experience is one of deepest refreshment and new insight.

shamanic healing

Nice post. It is so interesting that we need to be silent in order to heal the sounds we need to heal us. Our society is now so noisy, and we inadvertently block the spontaneous healing we might get if we were otherwise silent... Kara www.conduitofjoy.com
