Thai Massage
Traditional Thai Massage is often known as Thai Yoga Massage or yoga for lazy people, however it is more than passive yoga and a Thai Massage session has much more diverse ingredients than a yoga workout.
It has a rich blend and fusion of exquisite Asian techniques including thumb pressure similar to acupressure, applied stretches similar to yoga, techniques on the feet and hands similar to reflexology and soothing massage. It has its roots in Buddhism as well as the Indian influences of aurveydic medicine and yoga. Buddhist monks traditionally performed this dynamic massage with loving kindness in Temples known as Wats in Thailand as a means of invigorating the mind, body and spirit. It is a meditative experience for the client and practitioner and both benefit from their muscles being stretched and strengthened.
Thai massage is performed with the client wearing loose clothing on a futon mattress. As well as the yogic stretches there is a vast array of techniques which the practitioner applies using their hands, feet, elbows and knees. Patterns of gentle rocking either forward or side to side rocking are used when palming or thumbing. This creates a beautiful powerful healing massage which is deeply relaxing and eases the client into a peaceful altered state where the mind and body work together to allow positive changes to happen.
This transformative therapy produces a powerful feeling of well being increasing vitality, flexibility and tranquility.
