Every year, The Salvation Army launches its annual Christmas Present Appeal that asks people to donate a new, unwrapped gift for a child, teenager or older person. The Salvation Army then distributes the gifts to people who would otherwise have little or nothing at Christmas. Last year, The Salvation Army distributed over 150,000 gifts.

Did you know that the ubiquitous plastic bottles in which we keep our water are actually causing us harm? Water kept in plastic bottles, especially if also slightly warm (eg in a car) can exude oestrogen-mimics which are a cause of breast cancer. Many people buy water as they think it is cleaner and better for them than tap water, but if it is in plastic bottles, you could be doing yourself more harm than good.
