With the logistical preparation of the first Walking Festival in Huntly, Scotland, this April being near completion, individuals and walking groups are now invited to visit the official website containing the walk-packed weekend organised by the Huntly Development Trust (HDT), Deveron Arts and The Huntly And Area Tourism Action Group (HADTAG).

Starting on the 16 April with a wheelchair walk, the weekend will continue with a walkers ceilidh* on the 17th amongst other activities planned on the Saturday and will culminate in a mass sponsored walk on Sunday in aid of the Huntly Area Cancer Sup

This April -  June, why not put a spring in your step by joining the Ramblers ‘Bluetiful'  bluebell strolls season. The walks will help gather information on one of our best loved flowers; the under-threat British bluebell.

Today, epidemics of stress, depression and obesity are regular features in the news and never far from everyone's minds. Activity levels, however, are far lower than ever before and in our frenetic and busy lives, time is a very precious commodity.

So how can a person fit health and fitness into their life without having to create even more space in their packed schedule? As a man once said "your body is built for walking", so why not let it do what it's good at.
