We are all told, from the time that we are little children, to hold ourselves correctly. A good posture is good for your health. Many people grow up with this knowledge but they have never been told why it is so important to carry yourself well.
If the spine is not held straight and we start to slouch, not only is there a physical crowding of the lungs, heart, liver and other major organs, but we can induce spinal problems which can affect the nerve supply to the internal organs.

"Birth Prep", as practiced at the Atman Clinic began 11 years ago. After 7 years as an osteopath dealing with birth trauma in infants, I had the privilege of meeting Michel Odent MD, a French obstetrician known for his pioneering work in researching and developing an understanding of low intervention childbirth and water birth. It became clear to me that we had to focus our attention not just on the newborn baby post-partum, but on the expectant mother at the ante-natal stage.
