Everyone seems to mishear and nobody seems to have any idea what it is, and indeed the only reason I know about it is that I was asked to help a friend out who was studying to become a therapist and needed a guinea pig for her case history, three weeks in a row.

Dutifully and sceptically I lay down on her couch, telling her that my lower back was hurting all the time, and had very little hope of anything happening to make it better.

Some children learn straight from the horse's mouth. They find school easy, exams fine, and are happy to follow the prescribed path of junior school, senior school, further education, job. And some parents still complain! Other children find the path from teacher to learner fraught with bumps and bends, pauses for thought, or not, as the case may be. They lack motivation, concentration, confidence, and the whole thing ends in everybody's tears.
