What better time to bring you the first of our wild food pages, as you sit reading this on a beautiful spring day (hopefully!), long-awaited and here at last. As those close to me know only too well, foraging and wild food is a particular joy of mine. Few things compare to the excitement of heading out into the countryside in search of seasonal food.

New regular dance classes in Raqs Sharqi are being established for ladies in Hove and Seaford. This traditional Egyptian dance encourages body awareness, good posture, improves stamina, co-ordination and flexibility and often benefits a woman's self-image and self confidence.

Spring is upon us, and with the early morning sunshine, new shoots and buds appearing we are reminded that this is a time for renewed energy, new beginnings and a spot of internal and external spring cleaning. Over the last few years ‘detox’ has become a household word and while some may see it as an opportunity to undo some of the winter over indulgence, others see it as a time for new beginnings, a chance to start a fresh. We hope you enjoy some of this months suggestions, from picking your own wild nettles, to being kind to your liver... every little bit helps in the pursuit of wellbeing. Rachel Branson

A few years ago I came across a video interview of a woman who had been healed of Cancer without the use of medication or surgery. I remembered her shining eyes, radiant smile and soft voice as she spoke of emotions and repressed cell memories, how they remain stored in the body, holding you back emotionally and physically and the importance of learning forgiveness to allow the body to heal.

I am always amazed at the knowledge we have gained from the past, using simple herbal remedies to soothe sore throats, reduce inflammation and aid digestion, applying simple breathing techniques to reduce stress and symptoms such as asthma, and simply by being grateful we can change our perception and improve our overall happiness.

Never in a thousand years, you'd think, would a French frontline seaport in the Hundred Years War, push the boat out for the Brits, let alone their Monarch. It's logical that what goes around must, in time, come around. This is certainly so in the case of ‘natural remedies', ‘botanical medicine', ‘medical herbalism', ‘herbal medicine', ‘herbology' and ‘medicinal horticulture'.

I don't know about you but the idea of a drunken weekend, ‘L' plates and silly hats, is not my idea of fun, even in my 20's I used to try and avoid Hen weekends, so when it came time to organise my own, I very nearly didn't have one. Then an email came into my Inbox labelled ‘Hen Weekend Retreat'.

Bread is the most common food that my patients talk about. It seems to be causing digestive problems like bloating, headaches, fatigue, nausea, IBS etc. More often than not bread is avoided due to a self diagnosis of wheat/gluten intolerance without really knowing what grain is causing what symptom, and is it actually the grain but something else entirely that is causing the problem? So what's going on?
